The group that currently calls themselves the Founder’s Children has gone by many different names over the ages, but has retained the same central ethos for most of that time, to fulfill their self derived prophecy that would see the Founders reborn and light the fires of a new golden age. There have even been periods in history where they’ve held sway in one or more kingdoms, but even then they failed to grow into anything resembling a mainstream religion. The last few centuries have seen them slide more and more into archaic extremism, taking the metaphorical reverence of the Founder’s bloodlines and DNA, and turning into it a more literal worship of blood.
The Rite of Ascension is a gruesome ritual to behold. When a Captain or Weaver is deemed worthy to take the cloth and become Clergy they must first undergo a cleansing. While fully alive and conscious their blood is drained, run through a secretive form by a group of Weavers and Clergy and then put back into their body, it’s said to be excruciatingly painful, both to experience and to witness.
